General Ledger
The General Ledger is where your Sales or Purchases would be broken down into different categories. e.g. Electricity, Materials.
It contains details of every financial transaction since day one of the life of your business.
This Ledger contains 7 main categories into which all accounts are grouped.
- Assets - Van, Stock,
- Liability - Amounts still owed to suppliers
- Owner's equity - Capital
- Revenue - Sales
- Expense - Phone Bill, Stationery
- Gains (Profits) - Sale of asset
- Losses - Sale of Asset
It is from the information in the General Ledger that all Financial Reports are created.
